Drawing Assignment Themes

Shoes drawn by the teenaged version of Donna YoungAt the beginning of the school year in Art III in high school, our teacher handed out the homework sheet for the school year.

The homework was a list of themes for drawings, twenty-one theme drawings for twenty-one school weeks. The drawings were always due on Monday, if Monday was a school day.

I suppose that a student could do some of the same themed drawing assignments each year and that would create a remarkable record of the student's drawing skills and imagination. Most of the themes are broad -- take the shoes theme for instance, shoes does not seem like a broad theme, but the theme does not say exactly what sort of shoes to draw. I will look through my old drawings and try to recreate the homework list.

Advice: Always use acid free drawing paper for the assignments. Some of my drawings are yellowing - back then, not all drawing paper was acid free. Make sure that your paper is acid free.
