Boiled Potatoes II

Ingredients
- 4 medium or 6 small potatoes
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- 2 Tablespoons half & half
- 2 Tablespoons sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
Directions
Scrub the potatoes, leaving most of the skin intact. Cut the potatoes into 1/2 to 1 inch cubes. Place the potatoes in a 2 quart saucepan and cover the potatoes with water. Boil the potatoes just until tender, do not over cook. Pour the potatoes into a colander to drain. Put the pan back on the hot stove, turn the heat off or to medium-low. Put the butter into the hot pan, let it melt, add the half & half, sour cream, and salt. Stir until well blended. Add the potatoes and stir gently. Serve

Steamed Potatoes
Steamed potatoes taste similar to baked, but take a fraction of the time.
- 4 medium or 6 small potatoes
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- salt (to taste)
- Cheddar Cheese - optional
- Sour Cream - Optional
Scrub and trim the potatoes, leaving most of the skin intact. Cut the potatoes into quarters lengthwise. The pieces will be long rather than short, like boats. Lay the pieces in the top of a steamer. Add water to the pan of the steamer and set it on high heat. Place the steamer on the pan and steam the potatoes until they are tender, around 10 minutes after the water begins to boil. The time depends on how big the potato pieces are cut.
To serve, set the hot potatoes on plates and add salt, butter, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and any other toppings that you would normally add to baked potatoes.
A Steamer Pan Set
The pan set pictured here shows what is a steamer pan set might look like. The steamer set includes 3 pieces. The bottom pan, which can serve as an everyday saucepan, holds the water. The next pan is the steamer and the bottom is full of holes. The last part, the lid, must be used when steaming food.
Potatoes that have been sliced and steamed taste similar to baked potatoes. While baked potatoes take an hour to bake, steamed potatoes take 10 minutes, more or less.
