Make A 4-Year Checklist
Sometime before your student starts 9th grade in your homeschool, plot the entire 4-years. Do this so that nothing gets forgotten and so that you will have an overview of the work-load. First make the 4-year checklist.
Please, see also the three essential high school planning forms at High School Forms. On paper or with a word processor, make the chart. It is a table that is 6-columns wide and as many rows as you need. If you have a program that will open DOC format, you can use my file for the 4-year plan. If not, there is also a PDF format that you can use.
High School Courses Checklist
High School Courses Checklist
Planning
- Fill in required courses first.
- Add enough electives to total the amount of credits required by your state.
- Use the checklist to make a 4-year COS (course of study)
Notes
- It is okay to have more credits, but not less.
- Electives do not necessarily have to be named at this point. Pencil in or type in 'elective' for now if you do not know what your child wants to take or should take.
- Each year, check off the courses that have been completed. (I loved that part.)
- Right after checking off completed courses, update the transcript if you are maintaining one.
- BE SURE to back up your records, email the file to yourself if you have no other means of electronic backup.
- Print a hard copy each year and file it with your child's records.
- Keep the records in a safe place.
